Alphablocks Nursery School at the Hadley Wood Association

Alphablocks Nursery School at the Hadley Wood Association offers outstanding early years education for children aged 2 to 5. Established in 2024, this setting builds on our decade of experience providing a proven hybrid early education approach to the local community and surrounding areas (Ofsted outstanding). Located within the refurbished Hadley Wood Association Centre, the nursery benefits from spacious indoor spaces and spectacular outdoor areas that lend themselves naturally to outdoor learning and Forest School sessions.

Our teaching combines the best elements of various educational philosophies, including Montessori and Reggio Emilia, to create a hybrid, play-based learning approach. Each child’s journey is personalised, with educators tailoring lessons to individual strengths and interests. Children engage in hands-on activities, storytelling, and creative projects, supported by a curriculum that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence.

Apart from being rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2018 and again in 2024, we have received recognition from our peers in the early years sector. In particular, we were awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Best Preschool category (placing us in the top 3 in the UK) by the industry-leading Nursery World Awards in 2023. In September 2024, we were honoured to have been chosen as finalists in the Parent Engagement category of the National NMT Awards, recognising the value and importance we place on how closely we work with parents.

Choosing the right nursery school for your child

Nursery schools cover a crucial age in child development, from around 2 to 5 years. A nursery school’s aim shouldn’t simply be to care for your child in a safe environment. It should also provide carefully selected learning resources and opportunities for substantial and consistent growth. It should tailor everything it does around empowering your child to become a confident, independent learner. We’re here to help you choose a nursery school which can rise to this challenge.
