About Us

Alphablocks Nursery School & Pre-Prep in Hadley Wood, London, provides outstanding early education to children aged two to five years old. We empower children to become confident learners in a safe and stimulating environment, tailoring the learning journey of each child to their individual strengths and interests. We serve the local communities of Enfield, Cockfosters, Potters Bar, High Barnet, Monken Hadley, Southgate, and the surrounding areas.

Founding Principles

The child-centred, boutique nursery school in Hadley Wood was founded by Alexandra Samara in 2015 with a specific educational ethos. Alexandra has been working in the field of Early Years Education for more than twenty years and her primary goal is to help parents and teachers tune in to their children’s development and learning. She is wholly committed to the idea that a child should be provided with a carefully planned environment (both physical and emotional), wherein the child can grow unobstructed and develop key skills, shaping its attitude towards lifelong learning.

Early Education Team

The core educational team at the School consists of the following roles:

  • Head of School – BA in Education (Level 6), SENCO Lead, Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Deputy Head – Level 5 in Early Years, Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development, Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Lead Teacher (Explorers) – BA in Childhood Studies, SENCO Lead, Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Senior Teacher (Explorers) – BA in Early Years, Early Years Teacher Status
  • EY Educators (2 x Explorers) – Level 3 Early Years Educator (completed), Level 3 Early Years Educator (March 2024)
  • Early Years Teachers (2 x Adventurers) – BA in Early Years Education & Early Years Teacher Status, Level 3 Early Years Educator, Level 5 in Drama Studies

The School Director, Alexandra Samara, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Development (Level 7) and Early Years Professional Status (Level 6); a Diploma in Leadership & Management (Level 5); and a BA in English Language and Literature. She is a qualified Ofsted inspector and a teacher for the Early Years Teaching Programme. Her experience includes working for fifteen years as an Early Years Consultant in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, and supporting private nurseries and independent schools to improve their quality of service. She has acted as a coordinator for various projects by the Department for Education (e.g. Every Child a Talker project).
